"Tomato Kit – Food for Thought" is a digital educational initiative aimed at children aged 3–10 and their families across Europe. The project offers playful learning with an emphasis on cultural awareness and social inclusion. It connects digital and physical layers and incorporates various European museums into the learning experience. Each museum contributes unique content, enhancing authenticity and providing a personalized experience.
The primary challenge was to create an intuitive platform for children that playfully integrates physical and digital elements. The project required collaboration with an international partner responsible for developing the “Physical Kit,” which is delivered directly to museums and homes for children. The “Digital Kit” extends this experience to another level, offering features such as scanning physical cards using augmented reality (AR) or engaging in interactive games. The platform needed to be accessible to children from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds while ensuring a high degree of content customization for individual museums.
We developed an application that allows children and families to explore and interact with the cultural heritage of museums across Europe. The application offers a wide range of AR games and interactions with 3D animated characters, who serve as guides for each museum. The multilingual environment ensures easy access for users from various European regions and creates opportunities for additional partners who wish to join the initiative.
A significant challenge was analyzing appropriate content and mechanics for the application. Considering the target audience's needs, it was essential to adhere to key pedagogical principles.
